Litespeed Construction inspected an older roof in Knoxville needing new shingles. The roof is about 20 years old and the customer just moved into the home. We will be installing new GAF shingles on this roof. Currently, the shingles are losing granules and have issues that are common with a 20-year-old roof.
This roof has a few missing pieces on the shingles, including a few ridge cap shingles that are gone.
The valleys on a roof are always the most vulnerable parts. We will be adding ice and a water shield to protect the roof.
The chimney will be flashed to prevent any leaks. No counter flashing will be installed because the customer will be adding stone to it later.
Ice and water shield was installed on all of the most vulnerable areas of this roof. The valleys and around the chimney got ice and water.
Preparation of the roof is very important to the installation. All necessary components must be installed, like synthetic underlayment. 
The Certainteed shingles installed on this roof were Landmark Cobblestone Gray. The home owner wanted a light gray color and these shingles did just that. 
This chimney had ice and water shield installed all around it to protect it from leaks. We also installed all of the step flashing needed and left it ready for the stone to be installed on it.
