Litespeed Construction inspected this home with immediate roofing needs. The original call was for critters getting into the roof. Upon arrival it is obvious that the roof was not installed correctly. The roof has exposed nails throughout. Along all the edges of the roof the shingles were laid out with too much overhang onto the gutters. This is causing the water to dip back into the wood and has rotted out the wood at the edges. This made it easy for critters to dig their way into the roof and also make holes through the fascia boards. Litespeed Construction is recommending a roof replacement with GAF shingles and also replacing about eight sheets of OSB. We will also be taking off the backside gutter to replace 33’ of fascia boards and then reattaching the same gutter.

Go To Pin - 2Rotting OSB Boards
The boards at the edges of the roof are all soaked and rotting out. This is likely due to too much overhang off the shingles causing the water to run into the wood. This has made it easy for critters to get into the attic and also causing holes in the fascia
Go To Pin - 3Exposed Nails Throughout
There are exposed nails throughout the roof. This is a great source of water entry and can cause major problems in the long run.
Go To Pin - 4Too Much Overhang On Shingles
There is too much overhang at the edges of the roof. This is causing water to sit at the shingles and making it easy for it to get in between and into the boards. This is causing the boards along all the edges to be rotted out.
