Litespeed Construction inspected this home with immediate roofing needs. The original call was for critters getting into the roof. Upon arrival, it was obvious that the roof was not installed correctly. The roof has exposed nails throughout. Along all the edges of the roof, the shingles were laid out with too much overhang onto the gutters. This is causing the water to dip back into the wood and has rotted out the wood at the edges. This made it easy for critters to dig their way into the roof and also make holes through the fascia boards. Litespeed Construction is recommending a roof replacement with GAF shingles and also replacing about eight sheets of OSB. We will also be taking off the backside gutter to replace 33’ fascia boards and then reattaching the same gutter.

    Rotting OSB Boards

The boards at the roof's edges are soaked and rotting out. This is likely due to too much overhang of the shingles, causing the water to run into the wood. This has made it easy for critters to get into the attic and also caused holes in the fascia

    Too Much Overhang On Shingles

There is too much overhang at the edges of the roof. This is causing water to sit at the shingles and making it easy for it to get in between and into the boards. This is causing the boards along all the edges to be rotted out.
