HOW CAN I MEASURE THE SQUARES OF SHINGLES ON MY HOUSE? 

Measuring the squares of shingles on your roof involves determining the total square footage of your roof and converting that into “roofing squares.” One roofing square is equal to 100 square feet. 

Keep in mind that this is a simplified method, and actual roofing measurements may involve more complexities, such as accounting for roof pitch, dormers, and other features. You can also contact a roofing company to measure it via manual measurement, drone, or satellite.

GENERAL STEPS TO REMEMBER

  1. Multiply the uppermost floor of your home by 1.5 to calculate the total square footage of roofing. (The 1.5 is an expeditious way to measure and should have the waste calculated  in that amount)
  2. Divide this number by 100, converting it into roofing squares (so 2000 square feet equals 20 roofing squares).
