Tree Damage on 3 Tab Shingle Damages the Roof, Framing, and Soffit

Here, you can see the lack of ridge vent and signs of worn-out plywood or decking. Excessive heat can speed this process.

Here you can see that the rafter tales took the brunt of the impact and likely have continued cracking up the rafters beyond what is visible.

In this photo, you can see that the damage spreads across a large area of the soffit and rafters or trusses.  A large portion of this roof will likely need to be removed and rafters replaced from ridge to fascia.  

From the top, you can see that the roof is damaged but cannot see how weak and spongy the roof structure is. Upon further investigation, walking across this area, I discovered a lot of movement, likely due to damages not visible from outside.
